The Battle of Gettysburg, the bloodiest battle ever fought on American soil, came composition the meat was hurting. The Confederacy slaughtered trade union forces at Fredericksburg and Chancellorsville. Being one of the greatest attendant generals, this was a great loss for the Confederate war effort. A small barefoot confederate force stumbled into Gettysburg, Pennsylvania in search of shoes and supplies. There they encountered a Union occupying force. conflict broke out on June 30, 1863 which would lead to a genuinely important and decisive battle for the Union, the Battle of Gettysburg.
On July 1, 1863 Union and Confederate forces came running to Gettysburg after hearing the ensuing battle. The larger confederate force, led by General downwind, attacked the Union, led by General Meade, from the north. Meade replaced General Hooker as the commander of the integral Union army just 10 days before.
