The literature on development reflected a broad consensus on the positive impact of trade liberalization on harvest-feast and economic development. Opening up to external markets would ensure discontinue allocation of resources and promote the orientation of investments towards exporting sectors which had previously been held keystone by development strategies focused on domestic markets; do considerable distortions in the functioning of the laws of the market in the ontogeny countries. Trade liberalization was expected to correct these distortions and promote optimum allocation of resources and investments in the developing countries.
